question 4
who would be the audience for your media product?
Sally Thomas and Alison Peeters are both females over the age of 25. Neither of them enjoyed our opening title sequence, which we can infer from this video because they both show shock and fear towards the shots. This suggested to us that the audience of our opening title sequence would not necessarily be older people, despite the fact the more mature people are often associated with people who would enjoy horror because they are scared less easily.
Connor, Joe and Dan are all between the age of 16 and 20. They all show complete interest and seem to thoroughly enjoy our opening title sequence. Considering our target audience is 15 year olds, the fact that they like our media product is good because it reflects that it is supposed to be aimed at this type of audience.

From these interviews, we were able to understand that our audience would most likely be teenagers, around the age of 16. The people who seemed to contribute positive feedback towards our opening and title sequence and horror films in general, were of this age category. However, people who thought negatively of horror films were either too young or too old, which suggested that this is an ideal media product for teenagers.
Also, some of the people who showed interest in our opening title sequence listening to rock/punk music, whereas, the people who did not enjoy it were more interested in music such as pop music. This suggested to us that our opening title sequence may have a wide audience within the genre of punk/rock music. We think that this could suggest that our media product is obviously appealing to more gothic, rebellious people, which is reflecting the conventional representation of the people who watch horror films.
The people who seemed to enjoy our horror often said that their favourite place to shop was a well-known shop that is usually on the high-street, such as New Look or Primark. Once again, this reflected the idea that the audience for our horror would be teenagers who are largely involved in society and are interested in a wide variety of things, as they are beginning to experience new things at an important time of their life, therefore, are willing to watch a thrilling horror.
